August 26th, 2003 was the official release date of “El Doble de Amigos/Twice as Many Friends” our first bilingual CD for children and their families (on RounderKids). That means you can now find it in stores nationwide, or order it right here on this website, autographed and all (multiple sales are discounted)!
For
many years our fans with children have been asking us to produce
a bilingual CD. Well, it’s finally happening! With the
support of executive producer Lissa Gilbert, an early childhood
specialist, we’ve put together an album of fun and infectiously
danceable songs with lyrics that invite singing and dancing
along. The album consists mostly of new original songs by
Brian Amador along with perennial favorites from Latin America
and
the U.S. With fresh, new bilingual interpretations in toe-tapping,
be-bopping arrangements featuring Sol y Canto and special
guests, including a rocking horn section, a children’s
chorus and the Amador's 7 year old singing twins, Alisa (left)
and Sonia.
Here’s a CD that both kids and parents will want to
hear over and over again! Trust us — we’re parents
too!
The CD booklet includes fun educational
ideas and activities for parents and kids as well as an invitation
to visit this website to
download our free
on-line educational guide for teachers and parents.
THE SONGS
The songs address a variety of topics, including numbers,
days of the week, parts of the body, self-esteem, caring for
the environment, peace, flying kites and a celebration of
bilingualism.
The title cut, “El Doble de Amigos/Twice
as Many Friends” is a lively Tex-Mex style cumbia that
makes a point often lost in the debate over bilingual education:
“twice as many friends, twice as much fun, that’s
why two languages are better than one!”
