Sol y Canto is making a giant leap forward with our best CD yet. Just as we're about to mark our 24th anniversary* we've just finished recording Cada Día un Regalo (Each Day a Gift) featuring lots of great new original songs for adults. And that's not all!

Our music is the most effective tool we have to make a better world, and we need you to help it reach new audiences. We've already raised an amazingly generous $10,000 from friends like you, but we need another $11,000 to cover expenses for recording, manufacturing, marketing and distribution in order to release it by October 1! Before the grooves are cool on the new CD, we'll be working on our next project, Sabor y memoria, a suite for Sol y Canto and string quartet. With your help, these two albums will propel our uplifting cross-cultural message to new audiences:  We've always counted on you, our friends and fans, to support our music, our message, and our mission of creating music that inspires people to envision and work toward creating a better world. Gracias. Now we're poised to take SyC to a new level with a recording that features the stellar talents of the best group of musicians we've ever assembled on a collection of mostly original tunes that show Brian's evolution as a craftsman of unique and powerful songs.

*This fall marks Rosi's and Brian's 24th year of making music together, 14 of them with Sol y Canto... we can scarcely believe it.
October 2008 Release: CADA DIA UN REGALO - Each Day a Gift  - - A musical breakthrough for Sol y Canto, highlighting original work by Brian Amador, our founding musical director and guitarist. Themes of life, death, and living fully in the present are woven through an eclectic musical collection that is quirky, lyrical, satirical and  heartfelt. With the tightest ensemble we've ever put together, we've been laying down the tracks of what feels to us like the finest Sol y Canto recording to date. Planned for Spring 2010 Release: SABOR Y MEMORIA
- A Musical Feast in Seven Courses- about one of our favorite topics: FOOD! Anyone who comes from far away to live in a city knows that the deepest and most distant memories can be triggered by an aroma, an instant reminder of home. Music and food are among the strongest cultural expressions of our roots, tying us to our origins through pathways much more profound and direct than conscious thought. SABOR Y MEMORIA will explore how individuals are changed by a new environment, while at the same time changing it. Themes of nostalgia, identity, pride, enjoyment of life, and of course, food, will be the threads connecting the movements.  From the appetizer through dessert, the suite will combine and contrast Latin musical genres old and new in much the same way that flavors are blended in the cuisine of a new land. In styles from various parts of Latin America and the Caribbean, singers, rhythm section and quartet will be voices engaged in a dialog that celebrates the diversity of Latin cultures and the ways they affect each other and the dominant culture in the process of assimilating to a new life in the U.S.
